Amy Mathers is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pathology at the University of Virginia. She is the Clinical Director of the Adult Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Associate Director of Clinical Microbiology for the University of Virginia. Her research has investigated the role that the hospital plumbing environment can play in evolution and dissemination of carbapenemase genes.
