Helen Woodall

I am a senior registered dental nurse, I am an expert at mouth care. I have 20 years experience in acute care. My background is working in a large maxillofacial department with head and neck oncology, trauma, and orthognathic surgical patients. In 2019, Health Education England released 6 months funding for a dental nurse to assess and improve mouth care in their Trust. The Infection Control Team supported my secondment and together we worked to implement improvements to mouthcare provision. A mouth care protocol, staff training, specialist equipment and an online education package is now in place to improve mouth care for all our patients across 4 hospitals on all wards and specialist areas. I am now a permanent member of the UHB Infection Control Team managing mouth care improvements.
